F.A.Q.

Why use a doula?
It has been applied to childbirth to refer to “a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after childbirth.

Are doulas only beneficial for natural childbirth?
NO - Doulas are there for you and your family to help you have the best experience in your childbirth.

What if I have to have a c-section?
No matter how you deliver your baby, you will still benefit from doula services.

Does a doula replace nursing staff?
No. Doulas do not replace nurses or other medical staff. Doulas do not perform clinical or medical tasks such as taking blood pressure or temperature, monitoring fetal heart rate, doing vaginal examinations or providing postpartum clinical care. They are there to comfort and support the mother and to enhance communication between the mother and medical professionals.

My husband is very supportive. Why would I need a doula?
A doula is hired to support not only the mom  but the dad as well.  We let dad enjoy the experience and not feel that he must try to "fix" things. We LOVE working with supportive dads.

Do I have to use a particular hospital?
No - Pam and Evelyn are available to you at any hospital in San Angelo.
